After finally getting in, he struggles with ATMs, argues over an expensive short taxi ride, sleeps at his hotel, and then heads into Ouagadougou to explore. He visits the Grand Marché, buys Burkina Faso shirts to blend in, then goes to the Thomas Sankara memorial, where he explains Sankara’s anti-imperialist legacy and connects it to current president Ibrahim Traoré.

Then he goes deeper into the country’s everyday life, first visiting Kalgondin, a deprived area of Ouagadougou, where he talks with locals about poverty, terrorism, displacement, and their hopes for Traoré’s leadership. He meets an older craftsman who gifts him a bracelet, and Ali gives him money to help his family. After that, the video shifts from poverty to development: Ali visits Ouaga 2000, sees expensive new homes, a car showroom, a new mall under construction, and talks with the CEO of a local taxi company called LetsGo about returning from abroad to invest in Burkina Faso. The video ends with Ali at the Faso Fun festival, riding bumper cars, meeting locals, and reflecting that he arrived scared by the headlines but is leaving with affection for a country he sees as full of kindness, struggle, progress, and hope.
